I had a bad experience trying to reverse out of this problem with 2.30-0ubuntu2.1 installed under proposed. Fortunately I treaded lightly and linked it to the proposed update line and was able to downgrade to 2.30-0ubuntu2. Had to reinstall a bunch of stuff, including the nvidia driver, but all was well in the end. I only have myself to blame, pretty sure apt said these packages were being held back, and with good reason.
