Public bug reported:

What is expected: changing the state of the "Bridge USB Devices to Jack
When Plugged in" checkbox and then clicking the "Apply Audio Settings"
button should either add or remove the USB device from the jack graph.
However, if bridging is turned on and the device is plugged in:
Selecting no bridging and applying will make the device vanish from the
jack graph and then come back within a second. If the bridging is turned
off and a device is present: Selecting bridging on and applying shows no
action at all. If the device is not plugged in when the bridging is
turned on or off, the seetting works correctly the next time a device is
plugged in.
