I am on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS update-smart-drivedb is not available smartmontools 7.0 is on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS I am not familiar with pinning a package in aptitude I read that upgrading a package to a newer release might pull in other stuff that might cause trouble for my release -- would this apply to upgrading to 7.0? Would compiling from source code be a safe solution?
