As a sidenote: once the 'net.ifnames=0' is removed, indeed the eth0 and wlan0 still get their old 'eth0' and 'wlan0' names, but aside the aesthetics: the whole purpose of the predictable naming suddenly does function: all USB cards get a predictable name, based on MAC Address... so I'm guessing that's why the status of this bug is 'invalid'. Thanks to whomever worked on this. Works beautifully and makes life a whole lot easier!
