I've never had a DNS server on my LAN. My file server is an Infrant ReadyNAS NV+, and the name 'abussos' is configured only on that machine.
When I've set it up previously, I've had to specify the complete URL myself,: ipp://192.168.1.201:631/printers/Stylus_Photo ...so, of course, I specify the server by its static IP address, and there's no problem. With Gutsy, of course, the process of finding available printers is more automated. The NV+ supports Bonjour - is that what's being used to discover which printers are available? In that case it sounds like maybe a problem with the NV+, supplying its hostname rather than its IP address, making the assumption that there's a separate server on the network that can tie the two together. -- IPP Printing fails if server is identified by name rather than address https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174874 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
