@Tim I do not think you have the same problem. I see some errors which look like debconf is attempting to prompt you about something but failing to find a frontend to use for the prompt. Possibly this is the cause, but I'm not sure. You can try running the upgrade like this:
# DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get upgrade -y which might help. If not, maybe try filing a bug against the apt package by running the upgrade, killing it after it hangs, and then running: $ ubuntu-bug apt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912198 Title: package linux-firmware 1.187.8 failed to install/upgrade: installed linux-firmware package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1912198/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
