More ideas:

1. Please check ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/ and ensure there is no
subdirectory named 'extensions'. If there is one then remove it.

2. Your system logs seem to show you're using sleeping to work around
the original problem, as mentioned in the bug description at the top of
the page. Please reboot and then reproduce the bug without ever sleeping
the system. Then once the lag and freezing starts happening, reboot
again and run:

  journalctl -b-1 > cleanprevboot.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

3. If you can then please also answer the question from comment #2 -
While the problem is happening, does 'top' show any process using high
CPU?
