Well, I just test it with the final ISO downloaded from ubuntu.com and the 
problem persists, but with your workaround it boots more quickly.
Perhaps it's a minor issue but I think that it should be avoided because it 
gives a bad image to whoever tries Ubuntu for the first time. On a short term 
support release it's not as important as on a LTS is. Since Ubuntu is often 
considered a friendly option to test a GNU/Linux-based system, these kinds of 
details should be avoided as much as possible IMHO.
