  Package info:

  Package: miniupnpd
  Version: 2.1-6.1
  Priority: optional
  Section: universe/net
  Origin: Ubuntu
  Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <[email protected]>
  Original-Maintainer: Thomas Goirand <[email protected]>

  My system info:

  Distributor ID: Ubuntu
  Description: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
  Release: 20.04
  Codename: focal

  Problem:

The /etc/miniupnpd/iptables_init.sh script does not create the proper
MINIUPNPD-POSTROUTING chain in iptables which is needed for miniupnpd to
forward ports correctly. There is a newer/different version of this
script available from upstream which DOES create the right iptables
  rules.

As a result, the version of miniupnpd that comes with Ubuntu cannot
forward ports at all due to the missing iptables chain.

(And yes, before you ask, I have confirmed that I wasn't using an
outdated version of this script--I completely removed /etc/miniupnpd and
reinstalled miniupnpd, with appropriate dpkg options to force
  replacement of the config file.)

Oddly enough, the iptables_removeall.sh script DOES remove the missing
MINIUPNPD-POSTROUTING chain, which makes me think that the _init.sh
script just didn't get updated correctly the last time the package was
  upgraded.

Unfortunately, this odd combination (miniupnpd removes, but does not
add, the chain it needs) results in it being unreliable--I could work
around the issue by adding the right chains/rules to iptables myself,
but since any restart of miniupnpd will remove the MINIUPNPD-POSTROUTING
chain, it will once again go into an unusable state.

- Please update the iptables_init.sh script included with miniupnpd so it
- can be used reliably. Thanks!
