Or, to take my thought in the previous comment (72) a little further: perhaps there could be a preference "remember window size and position" that made kwin automatically save a "window rule" when an app is closed. And in this "window rule" size and position were to be saved. That way the user wouldn't have to bother about the shortcut Shift-close.
