It might nevertheless be appropriate to carry patches in Ubuntu in
advance of them landing upstream if there are Ubuntu development teams
committed to maintaining that delta - providing this kind of hardware
enablement being part of the point of Ubuntu. Of course this depends on
the cost of writing the delta and then maintaining it, etc. To make
progress, I'd expect to find an Ubuntu development team (kernel?)
committed to maintaining it.
