I installed 21.10 from the upgrade button on software update, unknown
why (no power loss, etc), but RYGEN is corrupt and I cannot reinstall
it, remove it, or remove its library files as sudo or su. I get a "too
many errors" message and it exits in the terminal.

I'm not a newbee, but not an expert either.
Yes, I've ventured into root as su - same issues as described above....

I tried reinstalling 21.10 from a DVD (I do not have a flash drive big
enough) and it does not recognize the OS or filesystem on the HDD. Only
gives me the option of erasing and starting over... which is not
acceptable.
