You can't change the username in gnome-control-center, you can only change the display name of the user. And those two properties are separate to the home directory path.
IF gnome-control-center could change the username then yes it would make sense for the GUI to rename the home directory by default. But it can't change the username so this request seems to be invalid. If you want to change the username and home directory path then you need to log in as root or sudo from another account and edit /etc/passwd, then manually rename the directory, then reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956391 Title: Changing username from gnome-control-center does not change the user home directory or name within the OS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1956391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
