With the information that you have provided there is no evidence of a
bug that Ubuntu developers can work on. Your request is one of a support
nature and not one for help in fixing a bug.

I'm closing this as "Invalid". This is not to say that you don't or
didn't have an issue that needs or needed fixing but only a support site
could help you if given solid information about how this issue started.
I don't understand why you think that some of the commands that you
suggested will actually help fix your issues.

Also be aware that although Peppermint may be based on Ubuntu most
Ubuntu users won't be aware of any changes that Peppermint make to a
standard Ubuntu installation or of any additional applications that they
may add.

is obviously your post at the Peppermint forums which was posted ten
days ago. As suggested there a re-installation would have been "by far
the easiest and quickest" solution. Say, 30 minutes plus some time
changing application preferences and installing additional applications.
