Hi! @savoury1 Rob, as a hotfix, you could add the lib (already built for vlc3 PPA) to the ffmpeg5 PPA. If that's more complicated than I think, until you have time for a better solution, just add the vlc3 PPA (containing the missing lib) to the install instructions of the ffmpeg5 PPA as noted in the WORKAROUND section of this bugreport.
@ptr727 Pieter, in the meantime you could just add [ppa:savoury1/vlc3](https://launchpad.net/~savoury1/+archive/ubuntu/vlc3) to your docker project as noted in the WORKAROUND section of this bugreport. @savoury1 Rob, With regard to your situation, I am also sad to hear about it. We are living through difficult times. I myself have no income for some time now and additionally I'm in a country next to Ukraine (war) which already drove the prices up and its an ongoing process, so I can sympathize. I hope your situation will turn out well. Although I just found your PPAs, it seems awesome that this allows e.g. new features for people running on older or less powerful machines, or be able to postpone a full reinstall and re-setup (and possibly re-bugfix) with a newer OS release (I'm in both those shoes). On the other hand, it is understandable that it is a big commitment for a single individual, especially with the quality my so-far-superficial impression indicates. In parallel to donations, **have you though about sharing the burden?** That is a very common practice in the open-source community after all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1965181 Title: ffmpeg: from ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg5 on Bionic is uninstallable using instructions (libx264-163 unavailable) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/savos/+bug/1965181/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
