It is an old problem: if the server allows for nfs3 and nfs4, then the client shall probe nfs4 first. If it fails it has to fall back to nfs3. In some cases, the probe fails to detect nfs4 not working in some environments and tries using nfs4 even if it is impossible. This is not really fixable.
