I am not 100% sure if this call, failing with a PermissionError, requires root privileges:
sock.setsockopt(tsocket.SOL_SOCKET, tsocket.SO_BINDTODEVICE, None, 0) I tried to write small tests in Python and C, as a non-root user, but cannot trigger a PermissionError (Python) or a system-call failure (C).
