Hi Peter,

Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. I just played with removing
linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic that I had installed on my system. I
didn't see any of the lilo messages you saw:

Removing linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic ...
Examining /etc/kernel/prerm.d.
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/prerm.d/dkms
Running postrm hook script /sbin/update-grub.
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub
Searching for default file ... found: /boot/grub/default
Testing for an existing GRUB menu.lst file ... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst
Searching for splash image ... none found, skipping ...
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.24-2-generic
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.24-rc5-custom
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic
Found kernel: /vmlinuz-2.6.20-16-generic
Found kernel: /memtest86+.bin
Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done

If you ever get to a point where you'd feel comfortable to remove one of
your kernels, let us know if this bug still exists for you. For now I'm
going to mark it as fixed, but again, please feel free to reopen if you
notice it hasn't been resolved. Thanks.
