The Devil Is A Squirrel : I believe that this should be discussed with developers because it's not a "bug" meaning that the computer crash, etc. According to dAniel hAhler, this behavior from ubuntu is expected and I also think that it is expected to work that way for security reasons. I believe that you "can" unlock root account and use it through ubuntu but it's not designed to work that way for the lamda user who uses graphical tools to configure the computer because of security concerns.
Perhaps you can speak about this idea on devel mailing lists or in #ubuntu-devel -- [Hardy 8.04 alpha-2 users groups] Can't login as root because administrative user can't change root's initial random password. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/179504 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
