The Devil Is A Squirrel : I believe that this should be discussed with
developers because it's not a "bug" meaning that the computer crash,
etc. According to dAniel hAhler, this behavior from ubuntu is expected
and I also think that it is expected to work that way for security
reasons. I believe that you "can" unlock root account and use it through
ubuntu but it's not designed to work that way for the lamda user who
uses graphical tools to configure the computer because of security
concerns.

Perhaps you can speak about this idea on devel mailing lists or in
#ubuntu-devel
