I have to admit, this is the first time I see a behavior like this and I
have been using Ubuntu since release 8.04 and compiling emacs myself
even longer.
The problem occurs also
1. when I compile the same version of emacs with different
configuration options.
2. Use different window managers besides gnome
I contacted the emacs developers and they have not heard of the problem
and recommended to open a bug report in Ubuntu.
I would like very much to provide more information if you tell me how to
achieve this.
Can you reproduce this bug?

I opted for a security issue, just in case, since the bug feels so
wired, but again I don't know how to provide more information by further
testing.
Thanks
Uwe

I strongly condemn Hamas heinous despicable pogroms/atrocities on Israel
I strongly condemn Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine.
I support to deliver weapons to Ukraine's military.
I support the EU and NATO membership of Ukraine.
