I'm using Ubuntu 7.10, all updates were correctly applied. I disabled the "eject" key in the System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts menu. Now it seems the drive does not open by itself anymore, but I still hear some noises once in a while (as if it "tried" to eject).
