Public bug reported:

Ever since upgrading from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04, and later to 24.10, I
have experienced the following bug on two separate systems, which can be
reproduced following the steps below:

1. Open an application such as Document Viewer (evince) or LibreOffice Writer.
2. Click on a hyperlink in the application (or in the case of LibreOffice
Writer, type in your own URL like http://www.google.com, press space to make
Writer turn it into a hyperlink, and then CTRL+click on the resulting
hyperlink).
3. Once Firefox opens the page, attempt to type something.
4. Observe that even though the Firefox window is in focus, whatever you type
will show up in the original application from which you clicked the hyperlink,
instead of showing up in Firefox.
5. Also press CTRL+F and observe that the "find" toolbox or dialog shows up in
the original application instead of in Firefox.
6. ALT+Tab back to the original application, and then ALT+Tab back to Firefox,
and now the keyboard input will work as expected.

Additionally:

There is a slight change of behaviour after upgrading from Ubuntu 24.04
to 24.10. In 24.04, if you have multiple windows open in Firefox, and
you type the "%" key in the address bar to search for a tab that's open
in another window, after switching to the other window the keyboard
input still goes to the original Firefox window where you initiated the
search. After upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04, it seemed originally that this
problem was no longer present, but I just experienced it again shortly
before submitting this bug report. So it could be that the bug only
occurs intermittently via tab switching, but it is 100% reproducible
using the 6 steps I listed previously.
