I see, this bug is still not fixed in 24.04. Here is a temp solution for all problems mentioned above:
sed -E '/^Type=/s/\\ / /g;/^(Type|Regex)=/s/\\/\\\\/g' mc.ext.ini > mc.ext.ini-fixed You can do it for /etc/mc/mc.ext.ini OR your per-user ~/.config/mc/mc.ext.ini (the latter shadows the former btw).
