Update: after a little more research, I discovered that the google
chrome and google packages repos can't be removed with ppa-purge,
because they aren't PPAs. I uninstalled them and manually removed the
files from `/etc/apt/sources.list.d/`. Unfortunately, that still didn't
help. I hit the same error as reported above.
For completeness, I thought I should also include these warning
messages. They haven't changed before/after removing any PPAs, but they
might potentially be relevant.
```
No valid mirror found
While scanning your repository information no mirror entry for the
upgrade was found. This can happen if you run an internal mirror or
if the mirror information is out of date.
Do you want to rewrite your 'sources.list' file anyway? If you choose
'Yes' here it will update all 'jammy' to 'noble' entries.
If you select 'No' the upgrade will cancel.
Generate default sources?
After scanning your 'sources.list' no valid entry for 'jammy' was
found.
Should default entries for 'noble' be added? If you select 'No', the
upgrade will cancel.
