Chris: Thanks for the suggestion to use the Ubuntu support forums. I did report this to various Usenet Ubuntu/Xubuntu user groups for developers and users, but didn't get much response. I'll try the groups you mention.
I'm not having problems mounting thumb drives, but I do find that recently, attempting to mount my Samsung S10+ phone causes the Nemo file manager to crash, although upon restart, Nemo deals with the now mounted phone without problem. I'm pretty sure this is a file manager bug, but it's another mount issue which started recently and made me begin to wonder when this issue kicked in. So long as you believe this isn't a software issue, you can close the bug report and I'll pursue other avenues.
