Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS on my Intel NUC mini destop PC, no sound output was available anymore. Neither in any sound-producing apps nor in the soundtest in settings. I must add that at the same time sound works perfectly on my HP notebook with the very same Ubuntu version installed.
With help from Chatgpt I tried multiple possible solutions and finally found one that worked: I switched back to PulseAudio from PipeWire/WirePlumber.
