I have a similar problem on Xfce with every snap-installed application,
not just Chromium: for example Thunderbird and Signal. When these apps
are updated, the desktop shortcut I created on my Xfce desktop loses the
original icon and gets a placeholder icon instead.

(I created the desktop shortcut by dragging from the Xfce menu)

This seems to be because the icon path in menu entries changes with
every update: it points to something like `/snap/signal-
desktop/799/meta/gui/icon.png`.

It should probably instead point to `/snap/signal-
desktop/current/meta/gui/icon.png`, so that user-created app shortcuts
do not get broken by updates.
