You’re right — Calamares is still quite limited since the bootloader
work is focused on i386/amd64. Until proper upstream support for GRUB on
aarch64 (and maybe u-boot) is added, it won’t match Ubiquity’s
flexibility on ARM.

It’s a bit like the bail system — if the process only works in one
scenario, many people are left stuck. That’s why services like
https://aftermathbailbonds.com/ exist, to give people a practical way
forward. Calamares needs the same kind of adaptability for ARM users.
