Public bug reported:
Migrations to questing fail on missing features on the target
$ virsh migrate --unsafe --live kvmguest-jammy-normal
qemu+ssh://10.105.100.147/system
error: operation failed: guest CPU doesn't match specification: missing
features: pdcm,arch-capabilities
This affects all migrations reaching questing
- orginally started from jammy/noble/plucky - all affected
- rather safe type or host-model - both affected
Let us stick just to plucky -> questing where distance is small
- from qemu: 1:9.2.1+ds-1ubuntu5 libvirt: 11.0.0-2ubuntu6.2
- to qemu: 1:10.1.0+ds-1ubuntu1 libvirt: 11.6.0-1ubuntu1
If it is similar to the other case then qemu/libvirt in their
coordination will be out of agreement and not create the destination
guest with pdcm and arch-capabilities, but we need to prove/show that.
Initial next steps
- Recreate in second level VMs as it would ease reproducing it for others
- Collect the effective guest definition on source and destination
- Collect the effective guest commandline on source and destination
- Check if we have any related apparmor rejects, just to be sure
- Summarize and probably report to both upstreams
P.S. At least Questing <-> Questing works fine since bug 2120649 was
resolved. This might be somewhat related or it is a red herring with
pdcm in the mix by accident. After all here also arch-capabilities is
showing up.
