Today I downloaded hardy kernel again. I am not sure if it's different than the one which is on the hardy 2 alpha cd or not but it might be since hardy 3 was released. Anyway... I've done some more tests and now I'm 99.9% sure that there's a link between speedsteping and the beeping sound. Does anyone have a theory about how these two might be related? If we presume that hdd is the beeping component then it seems rather odd that enabling or disabling speedsteping somehow affects that.
Otherwise this bug would not be too important, but as disabling speedteping (which seems to be the only solution atm) strongly affects the potential computing power it is rather disturbing. Of course the bug is not critical, but I'd still like to know what on earth is causing such behaviour. -- Noisy hard disk Gutsy (configuring grub is not enough) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155142 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
