bin:linux-cpupower only exists in debian, correct. I checked its
contents, and I see that /usr/bin/cpupower is shipped in ubuntu in a
different package: bin:linux-tools-common. We could change that
dependency to something like "Recommends: linux-cpupower | linux-tools-
common" I suppose.
That in itself is not the final sollution yet, because, after I install
linux-tools-common, and try to run cpupower, I get:
$ sudo cpupower
WARNING: cpupower not found for kernel 6.8.0-84
You may need to install the following packages for this specific kernel:
linux-tools-6.8.0-84-generic
linux-cloud-tools-6.8.0-84-generic
You may also want to install one of the following packages to keep up to date:
linux-tools-generic
linux-cloud-tools-generic
After I install linux-tools-generic, then cpupower works.
All that being said, do you notice something missing in tuned, perhaps
highlighted in its logs, by the missing /usr/bin/cpupower?
