I also have this same problem with a Dell Latitude 5420 laptop, on
Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS (noble).

What does "The patch got NACKed" mean exactly here?

It seems crazy to me that this eeprom_bad_csum_allow patch was
arbitrarily dropped.  Including that functionality is obviously the
right thing to do.  To attempt to fix or even INVESTIGATE problems with
an eeprom "NVM Checksum" error, you MUST first have a working ethernet
driver willing to talk to the hardware.  Let users use their hardware,
please!
