I would tend to agree to the rational, so I believe this should go in. Given that this recently passed the MIR process, I'm also trusting that there is a good enough autopkgtest test suite to be confident with the change. Also, I'm fairly confident that big release blocker bugs would likely be discovered quickly in our automated installation tests.
