I'm a non-techy user confirming this bug after 9-10 hours
troubleshooting (still not successful). Here's my info, copied/pasted
from the OP's above, with my own details subbed in. Sorry, some of this
may not be helpful, since I really don't know what I'm doing.

System Information
Hardware: Dell Inspiron 14
GPU: RYZEN 7000 / RADEON graphics (no idea current versions since I can't check
anything)
OS: Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria (based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS)
Affected Kernel: 5.15.0-160-generic
I can't get the earlier kernel to boot either (5.15.0-157-generic)
Date Issue Occurred: October 18, 2025 immediately after updating

Problem Description
Identical to OP's.
Pressing keys during start up doesn't bring up the BIOS/UEFI at all.
Escape only gets me to the "grub>" prompt.
After hours of searching online, I figured out how to use the grub> command
lines. Here's what I'm inputting:

grub> set root=(hd0,gpt2)
grub> linux /boot/vmlinuz-5.15.0-160-generic root=/dev/sda2 quiet splash
nomodeset
grub> initrd /boot/initrd.img-5.15.0-160-generic
grub> boot

This results in 30 seconds of the LM logo appearing, followed by a black
screen with the following errors:

"[0.329449] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol
[\_SB.PCIO.LPCO.ECO], AE_NOT_FOUND (20210730/dswload2-162)
[0.329466] ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, During name lookup/catalog (20210730/ps
object-220)
[2.381532] [drm: amdgpu_init [amdgpu]] *ERROR* VGACON disables amdgpu kernel
modesetting.
BusyBox v1.30.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.30.1-7ubuntu3.1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs)"

When I try to boot the previous 157 version instead, I don't get the
amdgpu error, but I do get the first two (ACPI BIOS Error).

Fortunately, I have an older computer I can work off of while this bug
is fixed, and I have backups of my docs. But if it weren't for that, I'd
be totally sunk at this point. I don't understand the OP's solution
above and will need many more hours to find out about graphics before
feeling comfy trying anything, lol.

HUGE thanks to those of you with the skills and good-will to
troubleshoot things like this!
