I recently tried booting into the recovery kernel. When I tried this I was
able to run audio files with rhythmbox however the audio would only play through
the built-in speakers. When I checked settings for sound, only the internal
speakers
showed for the output device. The HDMI settings were not there. I am not savvy
enough
to try and add the HDMI back into the settings, so I couldn't tell if it is the
HDMI for
output device is the cause of broken audio and video playback.
