what happened??? yesterday I booted into the latest kernel 3 times and each
time I was able to run both audio and videos with no troubles. Today when I
booted in the audio and video files wouldn't run. When I checked the sound
settings I found that the options for output devices had changed. Now only 2
choices are available, internal speakers and internal hdmi. The options for 5
channel or 7 channel are now missing.
Since I now only have 2 choices with kernel 6.14 I now tried both choices
to see what happens. When I set the output device to the internal speakers the
audio and video files now run like they should only the sound comes from the
built in speaker of the dell optiplex 7020 as it should. If I change the choice
of the output device to the internal HDMI the audio and video files stop
running. I can be in midfile running an audio file with the internal speakers
working fine and change the device to internal HDMI and the audio file stops as
if the pause button was activated. If I change the output device back to the
internal speaker the audio file will return to playing right where it left off.
The problem appears to be related to the HDMI option for output device.
