We have two possible approaches:

1. Disable the USB device’s auto-suspension in a way that ensures its
power/control is ultimately set to on.

2. As a workaround, keep auto-suspension enabled, but play a short
silent audio file before your first 'canberra-gtk-play -i message'.

```sh
$ aplay your_short_silence.wav 2> /dev/null

$ canberra-gtk-play -i message
```
