Thanks @kchsieh! With this I'm seeing clean cherry-picks for all of
upstream's MR#1800 in my git range-diff. It's still a huge change, but
I'm OK with sponsoring it for the reasons given above and added "block-
proposed-noble" for you to do the extra testing involved.

The final decision will be with the SRU team.
