Public bug reported:
[Problem]
When running "sudo update-initramfs -u", the plymouth hook script fails with a
"W: plymouth module (...//.so) missing" error if the default plymouth theme has
an underscore in its filename.
[Steps to Reproduce]
1. Install a plymouth theme that has an underscore in its .plymouth filename
(e.g., "hud_space.plymouth").
2. Set this theme as the default using "sudo update-alternatives --install ...".
3. Run "sudo update-initramfs -u".
[Expected Behaviour]
The initramfs should be built successfully, including the "hud_space" theme.
[Actual Behaviour]
The update fails with the warning:
"W: plymouth module (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plymouth//.so) missing, skipping
that theme."
[Workaround]
The bug is bypassed by renaming the theme's directory and files to not include
an underscore (e.g., renaming "hud_space.plymouth" to "kubuntu-logo.plymouth").
This proves the bug is related to the filename parsing and not the theme's
content.
