thank you, forgot to add that the local printing over USB with the correct Epson Driver is available through CUPS only after uninstalling "IPP-USB" package; Out of the Box, the Epson Printer is not shown as local printer, although the Printer is clearly connected over USB cable; uninstalling the IPP-USB package, makes the connection visible in CUPS Admin Panel and the Printer can be added with the correct driver.
The Printing over USB is still preferred since have the printer close-by and with the Epson Driver the printer starts almost instantaneously after job is sent; whereas with other options (the printer has also Ethernet and Wi-Fi) there is considerable delay. The driverless option has been tried and found it picky and unsatisfying, at least for the Epson Printer i have; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnet; The Driver from Epson works well with Ubuntu, but as been said, there is not longer actively maintained the package that is probably needed, so it works less well with Debian since there LSB seem absent since few iterations, but could be wrong. Regarding SNAP packaging, could not speak from lot of experience, but found that programs that make use of it, are living a bit in a bubble of their own; for example , if install the "Adobe DC Reader" via SNAP, it would not find any printer for printing whatsoever; however, if would install the classic "Acrobat Reader 9.5.5" via Wine the prgram would still find the printer and hence could print pdf, go figure. # Epson has overhauled the website for the printers, previously the "lsb" package has been clearly marked as needed for install, but with the newer layout it seems no more easily readable (probably it is in documentation). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2130264 Title: fails to print over usb (cfFilterGhostscript: error: Page drawing not occurred) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/2130264/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
