Public bug reported:
I have been using Ubuntu for many years and for 7-8 years have been
running Steam for games, playing No Mans Sky for 7 years (No Mans Sky is
a PC game running under Proton - which has been working without problem
so far) and updating from multiple versions of Ubuntu.
After upgrading to 25.10 Steam works but No Mans Sky is unplayable - it
starts but the graphics is very slow at updating plus the IO devices
(mouse or controller) take too long to respond (> 10 seconds and then
seemingly random jump moves).
Note that No Mans Sky does not crash.
Ive always use X11 so far (Unreal Engine game development engine worked
fine on X11 and still not clear if it is working with Wayland and older
versions will still need X11).
So I tried xfce to get Xorg to see if this is the isssue but No Mans Sky
also runs the same as the now pure Wayland version.
I am running an nvidia graphics card with the proprietary driver and so
far as I can tell this is loaded under 25.10 (again I have been using
this for many years).
Under 25.04 (which Ive reverted to) there are no issues running No Mans
Sky under Steam as there havent been for the past 7-8 years.
