I see the affected 5.15.0-161 kernel already has its own bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2130287
Looks like this issue will continue to impact all Ubuntu 22.04 LTS users who stick with the 'stability' package and do not enable the HWE kernel stack. Reference: https://ubuntu.com/kernel/lifecycle See the Kernel release schedule in at URL above for the 5.15 kernel - it's part of standard Ubuntu 22.04 LTS support for all 22.04.[0 or 1] LTS users until April 2027. (I would imagine that's many users...) BTW the issue is also affecting discrete AMD graphics cards using amdgpu driver on the 5.15.x kernel branch. I've got a 6700XT PCIe card, on my own PC. (I also see the original system reported against was a 6900XT PCIe card.) In any event, the lines of code updated in the amdgpu_dm.c driver source (from -160 kernel change, here https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu- kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/jammy/commit/?id=ec132a249e314bf729771c93900349d5440b98f8 ) appear to remain unchanged through 5.15.0-163.173 (meaning whatever regression introduced won't have any fix for at least through the next -162 and -163 releases): https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/jammy/tree/drivers/gpu/drm/amd/display/amdgpu_dm/amdgpu_dm.c?h=Ubuntu-5.15.0-163.173#n11330 Looks like this will be a problem for the 5.15 kernel user group for awhile :/. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2128729 Title: Black screen when booting 5.15.0-160 (on AMD Lucienne / Cezanne / Navi / Renoir / Rembrandt) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2128729/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
