Hi, In my experience you must use INTEL or any vendor provided driver for VFIO to work optimally. Generic or Realtime kernel may or may not work for the reason that these NIC vendors are yet to push some updates to open source.
I faced this problem on this way too, even outdated vendor provided driver too.
