I got up to step 2, but when the prompt to report the error appeared, I
saw under the "View Details" option a field title "UnreportableReason."
Within that field was this message:

"You have some obsolete package versions installed. Please upgrade the
following packages and check if the problem..." (I couldn't read the
remainder of the message as I have large font and often script cuts "cut
off")

gnome-remote-desktop libdrm-amdgpu1 libdrm-intel1 libdrm2"

So I ran the following command in the terminal:

sudo apt install gnome-remote-desktop libdrm-amdgpu1 libdrm-intel1
libdrm2

The command was executed only a few minutes ago. I restarted the
computer after running the command. So far, things appear to be
functioning normally, but sometimes nautilus runs normally without
freezing. The freezing issue doesn't happen all the time; it only
happens sometimes. In any case, I'll keep you updated to see if the
issue is resolved. For the record, rhythmbox also freezes sometimes when
I open it. It will function normally thereafter. It doesn't happen all
the time, only sometimes. Anyhow, I'll keep you posted with the ongoing
results of running the "sudo apt install gnome-remote..." command.
