To answer @Simon Poirier's question, I have a ufw default block all configuration. I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu 24 and also an older install of Ubuntu 16 migrated eventually to 24, both on different hardware, but fully up-to-date. For both, I try to enter through RDP from Windows 10. Both with the port allowed and with UFW completely turned off, I get an error from Windows Remote Desktop application that the connection is not allowed. I can connect via X11 with the xrdp package, but not with the "native" functionality in Gnome desktop.
On the other hand, I am able to remote out of the fresh install of Ubuntu 24 via Remmina to my Windows 10 device so I don't think it's a port blocking or networking issue, though I did play with allowing the incoming port on and off and I get completely different behavior from the Remote Desktop application in Windows 10. I also try to play with automatically selecting the RD Gateway server and do not use a RD Gateway server to see if that had something to do with it but nothing changed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2089611 Title: RDP into Ubuntu 24.04 results in a blank screen with no response via keyboard or mouse To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-remote-desktop/+bug/2089611/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
