from memory, and from reading my previous post, i did reboot in between. no idea ...
in any, case, since it's for science, i've uninstalled sosreport. sound still exists after reboot, for which i'm grateful. i did notice it only removed about 3Mb on uninstall (but i'm sure install had 95Mb, so, dunno). maybe if somebody else finds this and goes through the steps, they can confirm. if i'll need to re-install this, i'll be sure to come back and see if i can help with more troubleshooting.
