Any more thoughts or progress please?

This is still very much an issue. I am amazed that other people are not
affected. Maybe everyone else throws away perfectly good, working
graphics cards just because they are not current models and
spends/wastes good money on updating to the latest and greatest. If like
me, you are not a gamer then a low-spec graphics card like this is, or
should be (if the sound worked) absolutely fine for decoding HD video
and sound.
