Public bug reported:
I would like to propose an improvement regarding NTSYNC in Ubuntu
kernels. Currently, NTSYNC is compiled as a module (CONFIG_NTSYNC=m),
but it is not loaded by default. This means that when running Wine or
Steam/Proton, applications relying on Windows synchronization primitives
(mutexes, events, semaphores) may not benefit from it automatically.
I suggest implementing a mechanism to auto-load the NTSYNC module
whenever Wine or Proton is launched. This would improve performance and
compatibility for Windows applications and games without requiring
manual module loading by users.
This enhancement would greatly improve the experience for gaming and
application users on Ubuntu, making it more seamless and user-friendly.
