I got Samba working by getting [gksu system-config-samba] to work and the menu samba Now appered in the Applications>System Tools>Administration menu for my Gnome Flashback-metacity desktop. I had been working on trying to get the now removed from Ubuntu 18.04 [gksu] installed. Not a easy task. But I feel it was worth the work as I have many applcations the need it, like a meld menu [gksu meld %F] and others in edit and file opperations. For [gksu] you will need 3 DEB files,
libgtop2-7_2.28.4-3_amd64.deb, libgksu2-0_2.0.13~pre1-6ubuntu4_amd64.deb, gksu_2.0.2-6ubuntu2_amd64.deb , installed with GDebi Package Installer in the same order. Software- center will not work! The last two will be hard to find, but I had them on an old Ubutnu-gnome 14.04 Desktop. If someone wants to share them publically I will send them one time. I am retired and out of the web server bussiness. My website is parked. Just want to restor ...again... my 55's ** Attachment added: "3 DEB packages" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-samba/+bug/1740419/+attachment/5932637/+files/gksu.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740419 Title: Please remove system-config-samba from Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-samba/+bug/1740419/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
