Public bug reported:
System: Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
Kernel: 6.14.0-37-generic
CPU: Intel Core i5-1235U (Alder Lake)
GPU: Intel iGPU (i915)
Laptop: MSI Modern series
Problem:
The system crashes after resume from suspend when running on battery power.
The kernel reports:
x86/split lock detection: #AC: crashing the kernel on kernel split_locks
The crash does not occur when connected to AC power.
Observations:
Suspend mode is s2idle
Crash occurs during resume
Last active driver before resume is i915 (GuC/SLPC enabled)
Workarounds:
Grub add split_lock_detect=warn
Add the above workaround following on the line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
The line should now be:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash split_lock_detect=warn"
This workaround prevents the crash
